In Response To: Holy Crap :( (Doogie)

: Are you by any chance using FCP? The latest version? I've read that
: performance will only increase slightly with the new Mac Pro...which kinda
: makes me go...Huh? The stats sound like it should smoke the previous
: desktops.

FCP runs noticably faster in some specific tasks and less reliably in others. It's FAR less stable as batch rendering as well as printing to tape but it's much faster at selective clip rendering. Now, if you're talking about the entire suite, DVD burning is considerably slower by my experience but motion vectors are damned-near real-time. Don't give a shit about shake or soundtrack so couldn't say there but so far, been impressed with MOTU's DP 5 on either binary.

If anyone with FCP experience gets to try the most
: recent rev on a Mac Pro...I'd love to hear about it.

Haven't tried on the new PM's yet but it should be impressive.
