Has anyone else read Asterios Polyp?

I'm am in no way a comic book/graphic novel fan, but this came highly recommended so I checked it out.
I'm not really interested so much in discussing the actual story, but more in discussing any reaction to the end. I will say no more for now, except that I highly recommend this book.
