Careful with Wii connect 24

I am sending my Wii in for replacement. I started noticing green speckles in foggy areas of Zelda and in a shitload of places in RE4 (W.E.). Seems pretty typical of a partly fried GPU. I started poking around the net and it looks like having the WiiConnect-24 on keeps the network card on constantly (duh) but the cooling fans are shut off. The network card supposedly sits directly next to the video card, leading to the video card suffering from some heat damage. It doesn't seem to be a widespread problem, but when I get it replaced, I'm keeping WC24 turned off.
