iPhone upgradability intended?

If this article is in any way even remotely on point, this would be HUGE! I mean, the entire concept of a company building into it's structure the resources for upgrading the base-software for their products to be able to adapt is awesome. It's happened before (look at almost any Palm system) but on a 1st gen product as locked down as this? Very cool. I can't wait to get my hands on one.. ;)
